my hair is about 5 inches past my sholders and is dark brown and straight. i need to be able to do it with just a brush/comb, bobby pins, ribon, and hair ties, and i could use a curler.

Pny tail would be the cutest with a ribon tied around it. If you curl the hair while it is in the pony, it is much faster to curl, plus the curls will still have body after the pony is taken out. That's my personal shortcut. If you are using a curling iron please invest in leave in conditioner or a heat activated one. Remember to use flexable hold styling products, you don't want stiff hair.
