There are many different types of straighteners from Thermal Reconditioning (Japanese Straightener) all the way to Curl reformers like Anti Curl. The strongest are Thermal Reconditioning. I am professionally not a big fan of the Thermal Reconditioning. Here is why: You can not use if you have bleach, high lift color or even heavy hi lighting. The hair is stuck-to-your-head-straight. You have to wait for at least 1 1/2 " grow out to get a retouch. That means you have the curly hair growing out from the root area and then super straight. Very hard to blow out. And the retouch is where I have seen the majority of the breakage occur. However, if you have very heavy, very frizzy hair and you do not color it and you ALWAYS wear it straight- this could work for you. Just remember, you must grow this chemical service off your head. Once it is done- it is done. And of course you can't do anything with color over it!t
