I have curly hair and have no idea how to take care of it. It is really long (almost to my butt) and curly. I sometimes use gel but it sometimes doesn't work well. is there some other product that would work better? It sometimes feels dry. How do I keep it moist and soft? Some people say that if you have curly hair you aren't suppose to comb it. Is that true? What are some good ways to stlye curly hair? I am a tomboy and don't know anything about the world of hair and beauty products, so please dumbify your answers for me :) Sorry if I asked too many questions, but I am lost.
How do you take care of and style curly hair?
For curls which i got a lot of... dont use gel because gel can make curls dry and frizzy. Use garnia frutis, and products that are specfically designed for curly hair.
No comb your hair then condition it, but its best to curl it when its damp because when its dry that just makes it puffy and frizzy. ew.
Um, maybe you should trimb your emds because spit ends can look really bad and make hair look frizzy.
Also oils (NOT BABY OIL) and slight grease can tame hair.

I use mousse and a small amount of hairspray on my long curly hair. You may want to try a frizz-relief syrum if it feels dry. (Frizz Ease is one kind of syrum).
Curly hair is best styled when it's wet. I use a wide-tooth comb to comb through my hair after I lather my shampoo. Then I just finger comb it once it's towel-dried.
Hope this helps some.

You supposed to use a comb . Brushes will split your ends (they split my ends.. even after a trim). For styling I buy hair products made just for curly-haired people such as.. Curl Junkie (guava cream), Curl Keeper is good (www.frizzoff.com) , and they have lots of other things u can try.. and you can buy all these at www.curlmart.com and u can even read reviews about the products beforeu buy them. The ones I mentioned i like alot.
I also used mixed chicks shampoo/conditioner and leave-in they are really good for extra-dry hair. Those leave-ins make your curls look goof if you put them in your hair after you wash it.. just wash and towel-dry and put it in and let hair air-dry

sweety, not to be harsh, but cutting it may be best
-also, comb wet hair (brushing can damage it)
-use some moisturizing hair lotions and creams
-gel isnt great for mainting, not great for styling anything but straight hair
-before you dry, put some hair lotion in it keep it
-go to a salon every once in a while (i go twice a year) to deep condition it
-use the same brand shampoo and conditioner

try some olive oil on your hair and let it sit about 15 minutes before you take a shower. Comb it only while it's wet. Curly hair is naturally drier than straight so you only need to shampoo every few days but alwasy use a good conditioner like Pantene. curly hair looks great in a low braid with some little pieces hanging out and some cute clips. Try getting a satin pillowcase, it makes your hair shiner instead of a normal cotton one. Just try new products and looks and have fun with your long curly hair.

Your not supposed to comb it if it's a perm, the best way to get out tangles is to use a wide toothed comb while in the shower and conditioner is in it. Once out of the shower, towel dry a bit then apply a anti frizz treatment then a curl cream. Creams won't give you that crunchy curl look or dry it out like gel and mouse can. It's simple to find in most stores, just read the label and find one that says Curl cream. Once you have your anti frizz and cream curl style product applied, let air dry or use a hair dryer with a diffuser. Simple and easy enough to do every day and much healthier for your long hair. Three simple steps 1. Wash and condition 2. Apply products 3. Let dry or use dryer, and your DONE!

i have curly hair too and it can be a pain... here's how i style mine:
*shampoo it w/ sunsilk shampoo- either the blue bottle for 'poofy hair' or green bottle to control waves/curls
*condition w/ 'matching' conditioner
*towel dry just enough so that its not dripping wet
*put a big 'glob' of Dove curling mousse[i love this stuff because it doesn't make your hair sticky or stiff] on your hands and work it through your hair.
*after the mousse, give your hair a big scrunch!
*after scrunching, get this stuff call got2be curlvacious[it's kind of a gel, comes in a lime green bottle w/ a blue pump top] rub it in your hands and scrunch it on to your hair.
*if you want, you can blowdry w/ a diffuser[you probably should since you have long hair] but you could just let it air dry, too.[that's what i do!]
Hope i helped!! try it out! :D
and if this doesn't help, you might wanna consider cutting it a little shorter. doesn't have to be drastic, but it can make it easier to manage.
:D
