I spent $100 perming my hair and a week later it's nearly gone! What should I do?

I went to a reputable salon to get a perm for my hair. I had never gotten one before, and was kinda nervous. But she did it and it looked great. I waited a while to wash it. When I did finally wash it, I used shampoo only, the kind the person recommended when I got my hair done. It was find for about 5 days. I haven't done anything with it! I haven't blow-dried it or brushed it. I DID "comb" it by running my fingers through my hair. Now, it's still got some wave to it, but parts of it are completely straight again and it's just really relaxed. (more than it should after a week from what others have been telling me) Should I go back and have the person fix it? is there anything they can do? Did I mess it up? The person who did my hair did tell me to come back if it ended up being too curly or not enough. If I do is she going to charge me for it?? Or will she fix it for free? I am NOT a confrontational person. Someone at work did theres thru the same salon and it looks fine.

If you followed all of your hairdressers instructions, then yes, you should return to the salon. Your hairdresser will fix it at no cost, because his/her services are guaranteed. A perm should never fall out after a week.

Don't feel confrontational. These things happen and hairdressers are used the risk of redos for unexplained reasons. I'm sure your hairdresser will appreciate you for letting him/her know. Perhaps it was just a defective/old product. If this was the case, your hairdresser would want to know so that they can get rid of any similar products and buy a fresh/new batch.

It could be any number of issues, medication build up, product build up, poor application/saturation of perm solution, too big of sections in each perm rod so the solution didn't penetrate, needed to process longer, poor neutralizing, etc.

You need to get your $100 worth, walk back into the store, and have her fix this! After 5 days your hair should be fine...go back! Something was not done right.

well if u really want something done about it u will go back and ask her if she remember's doing ur hair a week ago and if the perm should be lost by now.... if ur not confrontational then just go to another salon when u have money for another perm

Some hair doesn't hold a perm well. I would call your hairdresser and explain the situation. Then ask how much it would cost. Easier way of finding out if it's free. If it will cost more and you don't want to go back just say you don't have the money right now and will have to come back at another time.

i'm sure she will fix it at no charge.. she asked u to come back if was too much or too little, and u did nothing wrong to make the curls come out. don't be afraid--im sure u paid enough money that they will have no problem redoing it for free!

Just go back. I've never had a perm so don't know. But itf you think it's not right then you should go back. She shouldn't charge you, you paid already 100$ and should get every penny of it. What I do know is that it should last more than a week.

when you wash the perm it will get a little wavy that why when most people get perm they dont wash there hair until like 2 or 3 weeks

Hi i am an ex hairdresser. I would go back and show her what your hair looks like now. You have paid all that money and you deserve to have the curl you paid for last. You didn't do anything wrong, sometimes this just happens. I used to prefer my clients to come back to me if there was a problem, that way i could fix it up and make them happy. She shouldn't charge you as long as you go back sooner rather than later. Hope this helps. Good luck.
