As an African American female I have never had a perm and I love to get my hair straighten using the iron.

I have medium lenght extremely thick unmanagemable hair and for me the pressing with a comb works best!

For thicker hair use a comb, for thinner hair either will work. Be sure to use some sort of oil to shield the hair from breaking off from applying heat to it.

It's very hard to get the edges of your hair with a straigtening iron. They now make ceramic straightening iron and comb now. I think if used correctly either will work for you.

I have to agree with all of the girls who said the comb is better than the iron. I wore my hair natural for 2 years and I have super thick hair. When I would straighten it with the iron it would fro out by the end of the day, but when I used the comb it lasted at least a week. However, if you have thin hair the iron would work fine, but you won't get your ends as smooth.

for ANY hair type the best one you could use is a flat iron, but not just any it has to be a ceramic one so it does not burn your hair..

chi ceramice straight iron...works wonders. Its worth your money and ask for you store policy on returns, you most likely can try it right there at the store before you buy it or you can try it at home and if not like it bring it back. Your going to love it, works on all hair types. And the best for really thick curly hair. When eveything eles fails this wont.
