Just wondering how does a black person's natural hair looks like b/c the afro; they have to use a special comb, and everyone in my school straightens their hair or braids them. My brother thinks their natural hair are waves. is that true?
What is natural black people's hair?
Most black people's hair is highly textured, ranging from wavy to curly to coily to kinky to just plain nappy. There's nothing wrong with any of the textures. They're all beautiful. Most black women straighten their hair because it's been passed down through the generations that our hair is ugly. Sometimes we get braids or weave to give our hair a break or to cover up our hair b/c it's broken off.

er... if you're asking where the afro comes from... we just don't cut the hair. if you're asking where the braids come from... we just get it braided. And the waves in the hair are natural too... it is for me anyway

"Black" hair and "white" hair is the exact same. The texture is just different. If you look at a single hair strand it has a pattern. It can be stick straight or it can have a wave to it. Most black hair just has a very tight wave pattern to it, looking at a single strand it would look kind of like a zig zag pattern.

It really depends on the black person you are talking about. There's nothing such as "black hair;" some of us have very kinky/curly hair, and some of us have waves. There's even a tribe in Africa that has straight, blonde hair. It just really depends...
But with the 4a/4b hair you are talking about (which i have), it is very curly when wet (like this: http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/noemie_le... and then it when it dries and you comb it out, it turns into that "afro" texture.
We don't have to use a special comb really...just a wide toothed comb because with the tight curls we have, a small toothed comb will pull our hair out. Although, a K-Cutter comb with metal blades does help to shape your afro, or comb through wet hair without pulling it out.
The reason why everyone straightens or braids their could be because they like the style, but it's also usually because those styles are more manageable, or because their hair is very broken and damaged from relaxers, or burned from a too-hot pressing comb.
But yes...the hair texture of a Black person differs from person to person. Not all of us have the same texture.

No it's not the same to whoever said that the reason why it isn't the same is being that white ppl hair is more pron gets lice if you don't wash it. For that everyone hair isn't the same AT All! Some people hair is dry, naturally curly, naturally straight, very oiling, just like skin is. But to answer your question black people hair is more pron to be the AFRO and we can use any comb. Your bothers hair is going to determine on his parents hair for his hair is to be whats true of thier offspring. And what they do with thier hair is thier business is just the same as you wake up and decided to do yours a different way.
