What is the best thing to do for hair that always tangles after washing?

My hair is dark, thick, and every time I wash it it is extremely tangled when I try to comb it out. I just moved to a place where the water is hard and I also reciently highlighted my hair. I have heard that a Malibu Treatment works, but I am looking for other things that may work also. I get so frustrated with my hair because it never has been tangled like this. It eventually combs out and is fine, but the minute I am done washing it, it goes back to being very hard to manage. I just got my hair cut a couple weeks ago, thinking that that would help, but it didn't. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

You may want to start scheduling conditioning treatments with your hair stylist. Also, you may want to use some type of a water filter on your shower head, or even use bottled water just for washing your hair. Also a good leave in conditioner may help. My hair is like that, and I even take about a quarter size amount of conditioner after I get out of the shower and put it in my hair and dry it...it helps my hair be softer and healthier looking.

Use a good conditioner when you wash it, then spray it with a spray conditioner before you comb it out. I reccommend Pantene or Citre shine.

Try using a conditioner after shampooing. Also you may want to try a leave in conditioner/detangler. Garnier Fructis has a very nice line of hair care products that work great for such a problem.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Professionally speaking your hair is screaming for conditioner/creme rinse. You need to switch shampoos immediately, you are going to have to go a little high end, try Biolage for colored hair. You also need to use Infusium 23 to restore porosity and tensile strength. This sounds technical but it just means when you comb, pull your hair it shouldn't snap. Whoever cut your hair should have given you some tips. If you'd like to go natural, mash an avocado and mix with your shampoo (it works wonders), mayo also restores moisture. If you don't deal with this problem it can get worse quickly. You may laugh but a few easy steps will keep you from crying later.

conditioner works fine, but they also make this great detangler. You just sray it on your hair and throughout your hair, and it helps it get untangled. Also when you're combing, start from the bottom of your hair (the tips of your hair) and each stroke down, move your comb further up your hair... this way you keep from getting split ends and its so much easier for tangled hair.

Well all you have to do is use conditioner or hair dangler.

Try using John Frieda products, especially the colour specific shampoo and luminous colour glaze. It helps you keep your colour, and does an extremely good job of detangling after washing.
