Exactly, your hair is b reaking, it's because of the tangles and/or weak hair......you need a good conditioner and a good scalp treatment......there is nothing you can do with your existing hair because it's basically dead.....the only thing you can do to it is soften it but take care of the new growing hair!

your hair is obviously curly, and its catching on the teeth of the comb. this is normal, but to avoid damaging your hair, comb it carefully, start from the ends and gently comb moving towards the roots of your hair. your hair will get used to this, and eventually stop catching. also, try using a wide tooth comb instead of a smaller one, or a pick.

- Make sure that you are using shampoo and conditioner that is made for black people.
- Don't be too rough with your hair.
- Try using afro sheen or something like that to make your hair softer and easier to comb.
- Like someone else suggested, use a wide toothed comb.
I hope this helps.

Natural/Nappy AA hair is not meant to be combed or brushed while dry..
You should wash and condition your hair, then use a WIDE toothed comb, or a detangling brush (such as the Denman detangling brush) and do what you need to do while your hair is wet, and has leave-in conditioner in it...
Then pick your afro into place (afro pick with the fist on the end). or hit it with a blow dryer on low heat while using the pick.
If you live in a colder climate and can't leave the house with wet hair..... Stick your afro pick in warm water and then spray your hair with a bit of leave in conditioner and then start picking it.
But whatever you do.... put the small tooth combs down
